Jaipur : Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, to secure 8th win of IPL 2025 , moving closer towards playoffs qualification, being placed at number 2 in points table.
Batting first, PBKS lost 3 wickets for 34 runs within powerplay. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (30) & Nehal Wadhera (70) eased off pressure with 67 runs partnership.
Nehal went on to play an innings of 70 (37) including 5 sixes & 5 boundaries.
The innings was well ended by blistering 59* (30) by Shashank Singh & cameo of Azmatullah Omarzai (21*), as PBKS finished on 219-5 (20).
RR started the chase in fine fashion with Vaibhav Suryavanshi (40) & Yashasvi Jaiswal (50) smashing 76 runs opening partnership in 4.5 overs. However, after both Vaibhav & Jaiswal got dismissed on 76 & 109 (8.4) respectively, RR completely lost momentum & began losing wickets at regular intervals.
The men in pink eventually fell short by 10 runs despite fighting knock of Dhruv Jurel (53).
PBKS left arm spinner was awarded Man of the match for his iconic spell having picked big wickets of dangerous Vaibhav, Jaiswal & vice captain Riyan Parag.
