Portugal held to 1-1 draw by Croatia, Spain edges Switzerland 3-2

KOLKATA:- Lisbon, Portugal – Portugal, without star player Cristiano Ronaldo, settled for a 1-1 draw against Croatia in the Nations League. Ronaldo was rested after Portugal’s impressive 5-0 victory over Poland.

Portugal started strong, with Joao Felix scoring in the 33rd minute. However, Croatia’s Josko Gvardiol equalized in the 65th minute, securing a share of the points.

The draw didn’t impact Portugal’s standings, as they remained atop their group with 14 points from six matches. Croatia finished second with eight points.


In another thrilling match, Spain secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Switzerland. Jeremy Pino, Brian Gil, and Bryan Zaragoza scored for Spain, while Manuel Akanji and Andy Zeqiri found the net for Switzerland.

Spain took the lead in the first half but Switzerland equalized in the 63rd minute. Brian Gil restored Spain’s lead, only for Andy Zeqiri’s 85th-minute penalty to seemingly seal a draw. However, Bryan Zaragoza struck in the dying minutes to snatch victory for Spain.

This result keeps Spain’s hopes alive in the competition, while Portugal looks forward to the quarter-finals. The Nations League has delivered intense matches, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion.
