Paris : Indian wrestler has filed appeal to Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) against her disqualification , & seeking joint Silver Medal on August 7.
Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from Women’s 50Kg Wrestling Free Style ahead of her final Gold medal match due to overweight by a bare margin of 100 grams. As a result of which, the semi finalist from Cuba – Guzman Lopez has been announced as her replacement in the final.
Despite many appeals from the Indian Wrestling Federation to IOA, those have been turned down. Now Vinesh has appealed to the CAS seeking joint Silver Medal alongwith the silver medalist of the final. Vinesh at 1st asked for a match in the final but it was turned down as the replacement and the match has already been announced and scheduled. Therefore she made the later demand.
“Lets see how it transpires. The Indian contingent has done due diligence,” Saurav Ghoshal, star Indian squash player, said on Jio Cinema.
The CAS verdict is reportedly to be given on Thursday, and if it runs in the Indian’s favour, they’ll win their 4th medal.
