Paris : Olympics Gold Medal winner, iconic Javelin Thrower, “Golden Boy” Neeraj Chopra is set to lead 28 members Indian Athletics squad for Paris Olympics 2024 , starting July 26.
Chopra, the defending World Champion, skipped the recent Paris leg of Diamond League in order to prepare for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.
The Indian squad is comprised of 17 men and 11 women athletes.
Race walkers Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh, who are members of the squad were the first Indians to qualify for athletics this year.
Other notable names include Avinash Sable, Tejinderpal Singh Toor who won gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
India’s 4 x 400 m men’s relay team featuring Muhammed Anas, Muhammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh will be followed with a keen interest after their qualification at the World Athletics Relay 2024 tournament in Bahamas.
The track and field events will take place at the Stade de France from August 1 to August 11. World Athletics has introduced a new mixed-relay event for the marathon race walk, while the men’s 50 km race walk has been removed from the Olympic program.
