Paris : In form Lakshya Sen secured yet another win in Badminton Men’s Singles, this time in Round of 16 against his own countryman HS Prannoy & marched into Quarterfinals of Paris Olympics 2024.
Lakshya dominated Prannoy 21-12, 21-6 in straight sets in 40 minutes to advance to next stage.
In 1st Round, the start saw a 47 shots rally, however, Lakshya led the whole set against him. Both of them played attacking Badminton & checked each other’s capabilities to full extent.
Lakshya led 11-6 and from there on kept piling on the lead by attacking Prannoy in the flat exchanges. Prannoy raised his level when he trailed 7-13 and attacked Lakshya more fiercely on his backhand side.
Despite Prannoy troubling Lakshya many a times, Prannoy’s unforced errors at Court’s wider sections resulted in 21-12 in favour of Lakshya.
In 2nd round, Lakshya completely outplayed Prannoy. Prannoy was seen getting tired & fatigued due to late night game yesterday accompanied with post fatigue of chikungunya which he suffered last month.
The set saw Lakshya winning with a huge margin 21-6 , marching into Quarterfinals.
Lakshya is set to face Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the quarter-finals, who defeated the Indian in Singapore Open 2023.
