Lahore : New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 78 runs at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and started their Tri-Series campaign with dominating win with help of Glenn Phillips’ maiden ODI ton.

Batting first, New Zealand veteran Batter Kane Williamson (58) showed his old touch, along with Daryl Mitchell (81), both scoring vital 95 runs partnership after being 39-2 (7.4).

After both being dismissed, Glenn Phillips took matters in his own hands and scored his maiden ODI ton, with mammoth 106*(74). He smashed Shaheen Afridi for 25 runs in last over and completely shifted momentum towards Kiwis. His innings included 7 sixes and 6 boundaries, as New Zealand pilled up 330-6 (50).

Coming to Bat, Fakhar Zaman (84) began smashing Kiwi Bowlers all over the park with 4 sixes and 7 boundaries, but got no support from other end.

After his dismissal, Pakistan Batting began to slow down and lose wickets despite a good knock from Agha Salman (40). The whole Batting lineup got bundled for 252. Matt Henry and skipper Mitchell Santner bagged 3-fers.
