Kolkata : Mohun Bagan AC defeated Bhowanipur Club by virtue of lesser number of wickets in JC Mukherjee T20 Tournament 2025-26 Final at Eden Gardens after both side ended in a tie. With this Mohun Bagan successfully defended their crown and bag first trophy in their cabinet this Cricketing season.
Bhowanipur captain Ritwick Roy Chowdhury won the toss and opted to bowl first. Despite Mohun Bagan opener Vivek Singh (46) held the innings from one end, stars like captain Abhimanyu Easwaran (19), semi final hero Chirag Gandhi (4) departed cheaply as they’re reduced to 33/3 in 4.4 overs.
However, things changed with arrival of Shakir Habib Gandhi (93). He played a remarkable innings of 93 (53) comprising 5 sixes and 9 boundaries, also stiched 104 runs vital partnership with Vivek Singh before the later fell at 137 (15.5). Jesal Karia also followed him soon after.
Despite the fall of 2 quick wickets, Shakir continued his assault and helped Mohun Bagan end the innings on 189/6 (20). Pradipta Pramanik (14*) supported him well at the other end.
Chasing 190 runs, Bhowanipur started positively with 50 runs opening stand between Akhil (55) and Abhishek Das (14). When both departed, Bhowanipur were in strong situation on 95/2 (8.4).
Pradipta Pramanik (2/27) triggered a collapse dismissing Prayas Ray Barman (23) and skipper Ritwick (15), as Bhowanipur were reduced to 127/4 (13.6).
Toufik Uddin (22) and Yuvraj Deepak Keswani (32) kept going but Ravi Kumar (3/45) dismissed the pair in 18th over, followed by Geet Puri’s run out in last ball of 19th over, where Bhowanipur exceeded the wicket loss compared to Mohun Bagan.
In penultimate over when 9 runs were required, Ravi Kumar despite conceding boundary off very first call, conceded only 4 in next 4 as Bhowanipur ended at 189/8 (20).
Since they lost 2 extra wickets compared to that of Mohun Bagan, the Mariners clinched the match and title on virtue of lesser number of wickets. This is their 5th JC Mukherjee title. Shakir Habib Gandhi was awarded man of the match for his heroic Batting and fielding.
