Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting Club and controversy has been two far-fetched mates in Kolkata football. Two weeks after being appointed as the head coach of the centurion club and following back-to-back wins in the first two games in the I-league qualifiers, Yan Law has parted ways with the club.
The 26-year-old posted a statement on his personal Twitter handle on Sunday about the same. But the club claimed they have terminated his contract and will take legal action against him for leaking personal conversation.
🚨Official Statement🚨
— Yan Law (@YanLawOfficial) October 11, 2020
I have resigned as the Head Coach of Mohammedan Sporting Club from the i-league Qualifiers 2020.
Best wishes to the Club for the remaining matches and their future in the i-league and ISL.#JaanJaanMohammedan
“I wish the club all the very best for the future. I hope they do well in the second division and I-League,” Law said.
The ‘Black Panthers’ won their tournament opener against Garhwal FC 1-0 before thrashing ARA FC 4-1 on Sunday (October 11). But this sudden decision may cause problems to their campaign in a bid to return to the top division league of the country.
Now a new side has come up as club’s General Secretary SK Wasim Akram stated that Law has leaked conversation on social media and news outlets. The conversation was between him and Law. Even Akram came up with an angle of match-fixing against Law and stated to the press that the club has sacked him from his post.
