Mohammedan Sporting Club terminate contract with head coach Yan Law just after two matches

Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting Club and controversy has been two far-fetched mates in Kolkata football. Two weeks after being appointed as the head coach of the centurion club and following back-to-back wins in the first two games in the I-league qualifiers, Yan Law has parted ways with the club.

The 26-year-old posted a statement on his personal Twitter handle on Sunday about the same. But the club claimed they have terminated his contract and will take legal action against him for leaking personal conversation.

“I wish the club all the very best for the future. I hope they do well in the second division and I-League,” Law said.

The ‘Black Panthers’ won their tournament opener against Garhwal FC 1-0 before thrashing ARA FC 4-1 on Sunday (October 11). But this sudden decision may cause problems to their campaign in a bid to return to the top division league of the country.

Now a new side has come up as club’s General Secretary SK Wasim Akram stated that Law has leaked conversation on social media and news outlets. The conversation was between him and Law. Even Akram came up with an angle of match-fixing against Law and stated to the press that the club has sacked him from his post.

“We have sacked our coach with immediate effect. He was not a team man, and facing issues with our assistant coach, goalkeeping coach, manager. Every day we were getting several complaints against him,” Akram to the press. “He also leaked my conversations by taking screenshots. I will take legal action against him.”

The club on their official Twitter handle stated, “Mohammedan Sporting Club on Sunday has terminated the contract with head coach Yan Law. The club has already sent a termination letter to Mr. Yan Law. The decision took immediate effect following reviews conducted by the club’s general secretary Wasim Akram and the club’s management. Assistant coach Syed Ramon will be in charge of the team for the remaining matches of the I-League qualifiers.”
