Goa: Matti Steinmann and Anthony Pilkington scored a goal each as SC East Bengal returned to winning ways beating Jamshedpur FC, 2-1 at the Fatorda on Sunday. Peter Hartley was on target for Jamshedpur FC.

The match started with a bang as Steinmann opened the scoring for East Bengal in the sixth minute from a Narayan Das corner. They went on to dominate the first half after that with Bright Enobakhare and Pilkington finding enough spaces at the top by creating threat on the Jamshedpur defence.

In the second half, Jamshedpur Owen Coyle wanted something extraordinary from his side and also from his talisman Nerijus Valskis. A shot from him went outside by hitting the bar post. In the 68th minute, Pilkington doubled the lead for the Red and Gold brigade from a Steinmann assist.

Pilkington could have finished the match five minutes later when his shot hit the bar and came into the hands of TP Rehenesh. Hartley reduced the deficit for Jamshedpur in the 83rd minute. Valskis came close to equalize in the last minute after his header was saved by Subrata Paul, who wore an East Bengal shirt for the first time in 12 years.
