Barcelona: Lionel Messi is likely to continue at Barcelona till 2026, according to reports. However, nothing has been finalised yet and an official announcement is expected soon. The 34-year-old is currently vacationing with his family after national duties.
The Argentine captain, who recently won the Copa America 2021 defeating Brazil in the final, also decided to consider a wage cut to help the Catalonia side register him under La Liga’s financial fair play regulations. Reports suggest that Messi has agreed to cut down 50 per cent of his wage.

PSG never had any real chance this summer. NO talks. Only Barça for Leo. ❌
New contract will be until June 2026 instead of 2023 to help the club – as @ferrancorreas reported.

Messi’s transfer has been a big mystery since his contract expired at the end of June and he has been a free agent. Last season Messi was all ready to leave the club – the place where he spent his entire professional career – because of unhappiness towards the management.
However, with the then-president Josep Bartomeu stepping down and Joan Laporta taking over after the elections, things came under control. After becoming a free agent, Messi was linked to a number of moves including the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
