Kolkata : Virender Sehwag led Gujarat Giants dominate India Legends, led by Jacques Kallis, by 3 wickets, with the help of Kevin O’Brien’s magnificent ton at the Eden Gardens, in the opening match of Legends Cricket League 2022.
Chasing a total of 180 runs, Kevin O’Brien gave a flying start to Gujarat, but they soon lost their skipper Sehwag. Both Parthiv Patel & Yashpal Singh who came accordingly, stayed at the other end, playing supporting role with 2 crucial 50+ partnerships & their small but valuable knocks brought Gujarat in a commanding position. With the loss of Kevin O’Brien, the match saw death over dramas, as Gujarat lost 4 quick wickets within a span of 2 overs of Liam Plunkett & Pravin Tambe, but, at last, with a wide delivery of Pravin Tambe, Gujarat managed to clinch their 1st win in the opening match of the tournament.
Earlier in the 1st innings, India Legends seemed stumbled with the Bat as they quickly lost their top order, but the former West Indian all rounder Ashley Nurse scored a glorious ton of 103*(43), for which he won the man of the match, yet it was over shadowed by Kevin O’Brien later.
