Kolkata : Mohun Bagan SG dominated Sreenidi Deccan 6-0 at Mohun Bagan AC Ground, Kolkata in IFA Shield opener with help of Lallianzuala Chhangte hattrick.
Abhishek Suryavanshi opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Chhangte doubled the lead just before the half-time.
The India international completed his hat-trick with two goals early in the second half, scoring in the 52nd and 57th minutes to put Mohun Bagan firmly in command. This was also his first ever career hattrick.
Sandeep Malik added the fifth in the 80th minute, it was an important goal for him as he gets lesser game time when senior teams play. Lee Erwin added 6th goal for Bagan two minutes later, also his maiden goal in Mohun Bagan jersey.
Mohun Bagan, who recently won the Calcutta Football League, played with an attacking intent from the outset despite missing several regulars away on national duty.
The weather wasn’t good as it pelted down throughout the game with Ground becoming dangerous with mud and depressions. Despite all, Mohun Bagan stood firm to complete 6-0 win, almost confirming semi final berth.
The defending champions will next face NorthEast United FC on 29th September.
