Colombo: The second T20I between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed after visiting allrounder Krunal Pandya tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday. The second T20I was scheduled to be played on Tuesday.

Both teams are in isolation currently and the second T20I will take place only if all players test negative likely on Wednesday. “The second T20I between Sri Lanka and India originally scheduled to be played on July 27 has been pushed forward by a day and will now take place on Wednesday, July 28,” said BCCI in a media release.

“Following the Rapid Antigen Tests conducted ahead of the match on Tuesday morning, Team India all-rounder Krunal Pandya was found to be positive. The Medical Teams have identified eight members as close contacts. The entire contingent is undergoing RT-PCR tests today to ascertain any further outbreak in the squad,” the BCCI added.

With coronavirus hitting the Indian camp in Sri Lanka, doubts will now emerge on the possibility of sending Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav to England as injury replacements ahead of the Test series. If they also test positive for the virus then Shaw and Yadav might miss out of the England series.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as replacements,” BCCI had said in an official statement. India, led by Shikhar Dhawan, are currently leading the three-match T20I series 1-0.
