Dubai: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was hit by another blow after pacer Ali Khan was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 without playing a single game. The USA pacer came in as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. However, the nature of his injury is still not known.

The 29-year-old rose to limelight after his big break that came in 2018 when the then Trinbago Knight Riders captain Dwayne Bravo spotted him at the Global T20 Canada. Khan ended up featuring in the CPL that year, picking up 16 wickets in 12 matches in his debut season, the second-best among all fast bowlers in the competition.

He also picked up eight wickets for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL 2020. He has also featured in the Bangladesh Premier League and the Pakistan Super League while he has played one ODI and has a career spanning 36 T20s in which he has picked up 38 wickets.

It has turned out a double loss for the two-time IPL champions. KKR’s current bowling line-up is slowly settling into its groove. So far in the ongoing season of IPL, KKR has played four games and won two of them. They next face Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday (October 7) in their fifth match in the UAE.
