Kolkata : English white ball skipper Jos Buttler is ruled out of the 3 match T20I series against Australia starting from September 11, 2024.
Buttler suffered a calf injury while preparing for The Hundred 2024 , & ruled him out throughout the English summer.
The wicket keeper is also doubtful due to this injury for the 5 Match ODI Series against Aussies that will start post T20I series.
In absence of Buttler, his opening partner , another prolific English Batter, Phil Salt will lead the side in T20I series against Australia.
Salt has featured in 31 T20Is, scoring 885 runs including 2 tons. This will be a fresh start for a new stand in skipper in white Ball Cricket.
All rounder Jamie Overton is roped in as a replacement of injured Buttler.
This marked his third such injury in the past four years, highlighting the ongoing challenges posed by this recurring issue.
Initial motive for Buttler’s comeback involved playing for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast quarter-final against Sussex.
However, that was scrapped due to the persistent nature of his injury. The aggravated calf injury could potentially keep Buttler out for the remainder of the summer.
Despite these, England team management remains optimistic about his recovery and hopes to see him return to action for the ODI series against Australia, starting from September 19.
A return to English white Ball side will boost the fresh start that the 2022 WT20 Champion are going to start under new white Ball Head coach Brendon McCullum.
