Jitesh Sharma stars as Royal Challengers Bengaluru book Qualifier 1 spot in IPL 2025

Lucknow : Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow and booked Qualifier 1 spot in IPL 2025.

RCB bowling first were without the services of Tim David so Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara was roped in, who gave first breakthrough picking the wicket of Breetzke (14) for 25 runs.

Mitchell Marsh (67) & skipper Rishabh Pant (118*) notched 152*(78) partnership. Pant continued his explosive Batting even after Marsh’s dismissal and smashed his century.

His knock of 118*(61) comprised 8 sixes and 11 boundaries as LSG finished on 227-3 (20).

Chasing 228, Phil Salt (30) & Virat Kohli (54) smashed 61 runs opening stand. But RCB lost quick wickets of Salt, Rajat Patidar (14) & Liam Livingstone and were reduced to 90-3 (8).

Skipper Jitesh Sharma (85*) and Mayank Agarwal (41*) notched up match winning 107* (45) runs partnership.

Jitesh’s innings included 6 sixes and 8 boundaries, where he took bowlers to cleaners, chasing down highest total for RCB in IPL history. This innings also earned him man of the match.

RCB will now face Punjab Kings on May 29, 2025 in Qualifier 1.
