Goa: Jamshedpur FC came back in winning ways beating NorthEast United FC 1-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan on Friday (December 18). Aniket Jadhav was the sole scorer of the game netting for the visitors.

Jamshedpur lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Peter Hartley being paired with Stephen Eze at the heart of the defence. Youngster Isaac Vanmalsawma alongside Alex Monteiro de Lima and Mobashir Rahman formed a midfield trident. Nerijus Valskis shared the forward line alongside Aniket Jadhav and Jackichand Singh.

The visitors started well dominating the possession on the ball looking for early breakthroughs. However, it was NorthEast who were going close for finding the back of the net as an exciting end to end football was seen in the first few minutes.

Kwesi Appiah got his chance from a direct free-kick but his shot went wide while Stephen Eze got the chance for taking the lead for Jamshedpur from a set-piece move but failed to convert his header.

The tall and strong Nigerian was a constant threat in the opposition during the aerial deliveries. Despite that, the first half ended without any opening.

However, in the second half, Jamshedpur finally got their breakthrough when Jackichand’s first-time cross found Jadhav who finished it off in a fine fashion. The youngster is slowly but proving his worth. The scoreline could have been different had Jamshedpur goalie TP Rehenesh not saved a penalty from Adrys Silla.

In the rest of the second half, NorthEast was more or less involved in the majority of the attacking moves getting close to the goal but somehow failed to find that finishing touch while Jamshedpur’s defensive played it out with excellent spirit to secure their lead. In the end, Jamshedpur came out as deserving winners taking the full three points.
