Kolkata : Kerala all rounder Jalaj Saxena has inscribed his name into Ranji Trophy history books by achieving a historic feat on November 6, 2024 in group stage encounter against Uttar Pradesh, becoming 1st player in the tournament’s history to clinch 400 wickets and 6000 runs.
Coming into the match, Saxena, a big name in domestic Cricket, had 396 scalps. He spun his web to rattle Uttar Pradesh’s Batters dismissing the likes of Aryan Juyal, Madhav Kaushik, Piyush Chawla, Siddhart Yadav & Nitish Rana (400th scalp) , picking up 5-fer , and ending the day with spell of 5/56.
With this feat, he became 1st player in Ranji Trophy history to bag 400 scalps and 6000 runs. He thus now has 6795 runs & 401 Ranji Trophy wickets. The veteran scored his 6000th run in previous round against Kolkata.
Saxena, now 37, yet to make international debut, but, is a huge name in Domenic Cricket.
