ISL: Igor Angulo’s brace salvages a draw for FC Goa against Bengaluru

Goa: FC Goa came back from 2-0 down to save their day with 2-2 against Bengaluru FC  in the ongoing Indian Super League(ISL) at the Fatorda Stadium on Sunday(November 22). Igor Angolo netted a brace for the Gaurs while Cleiton Silva and Juanan featured on the scoresheet for the Blues.

FC Goa coach Juan Ferrando gave Igor Angulo, Jorge Ortiz, Ivan Gonzalez, James Donachie and Sanson Pereira their debuts in ISL while with Kristian Opseth and Cleiton Silva both started for Bengaluru. Goa started well dominating possession trying take the game away from Bengaluru right from the word go. However, the home side went down 1-0 as a long throw in box getting deflected off Donachie before finding Cleiton Silva who headed it past Goa goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz. Bengaluru were creating chances whenever they got but Goa managed not concede more in the first half.

In the second half, Bengaluru extended their lead 2-0 when Eric Paartalu headed to lay it off for Juanan who made no mistake with his header. However, Goa started coming back to game after that with a few key changes in the form of Brandon Fernandes,Alberto Noguera and Alexander Romario. They got one back just after that as Brandon and Nougera combined to play a ball for Igor Angulo and the Spaniard slotted it past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with a clinical finish before their comeback completed when Brandon’s through ball found Romario who squared it off for Angolo who finished it off.Brandon proved to be such key player for the home side as he was constantly involved in their attacking movements. Goa towards the final few minutes were putting Bengaluru on the back foot the failed to create chances with both the sides sharing points. FC Goa will host Mumbai City FC on November 25.
