ISL 2021-22: NorthEast United edge past FC Goa; Mumbai City FC crush Bengaluru FC

Goa: A last grasp goal by Khassa Camara helped NorthEast earn full points beating FC Goa 2-1 in a Indian Super League (ISL) game at Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Saturday.The Highlanders scored the other one through Rochharzela while Alexander Romario Jesuraj added the equaliser for the Goars.

Elsewhere, defending champions Mumbai City FC crushed Bengaluru FC thanks 3-1 at the GMC Athletic Stadium climbing to the ISL summit with 9 points from 4 games.Igor Angulo,Mourtada Fall and Ygor Catatau added their name on the scoresheet for the Islanders while Cleiton Silva struck a sublime long-range direct free-kick for BFC.

The game took off in style with Cleiton Silva hitting the crossbar with a thumping volley. Igor Angulo shortly after that opened the scoring from the spot after BFC’s Alan Costa seemingly handled the ball inside the box during an aerial battle with Mourtada Fall. Mumbai though kept the pressure going on the opposing half before getting the reward in the 54th minute thanks to the towering centre back Fall who got on the end of a free-kick from Jahouh and headed home to extend the lead. Ygor Catatau put the icing on the cake for Des Buckingham’s side in final sector of the game slotting it on the rebound after Angulo’s header had hit the post.
