Goa: Defending champions Mumbai City FC suffered their first loss of the Indian Super League(ISL) after Hyderabad FC outplayed them 3-1 at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Saturday. Ahmed Jahouh netted the opener for the Islanders before Hyderabad came out all guns blazing through Joao victor, Bartholomew Ogbeche and teenager Rohit Danu to earn full points.
Jahuou’s strike in 6th minute to open the scoring for Islanders was largely due to sloppy defending from the Hyderabad defence with the Mumbai midfield maestro striking a thumping right foot shot.Hyderabad though levelled the things in the 13th minute through Jao Victor’s spot kick after Joel Chainese was fouled by Bipin Singh.
Mumbai custodian Mohammad Nawaz made an important save from Asish Rai a few minutes later to prevent HFC from going into the lead while Rahul Bheke had a great chance to score for for the Islanders in the 27th minute but his effort from close-range went didn’t find it way as both sides went into the break with 1-1 scoreline.
Hyderabad though took the lead seven minutes into the second as Bartholomew Ogbeche found himself on the end of a superb collective to add the finishing touch.Despite early dominance by Islanders, the second half pretty belong to Hyderabad who kept their shape till the end. However Mumbai did get the opportunity for a leveller as substitute Rowlin Borges came close in the 78th minute but was unable to finish it off.
However, the Islanders looked frustrated in their approach despite their dominance on the ball with Ahmed Jahou receiving a yellow for a poor challenge.19 year-old Rohit Danu put the icing on for Hyderabad after he pounced on a loose before unleashing a powerful close-range right-footed shot to seal the deal.
