ISL 2021-22: Greg Stewart hat-trick helps Jamshedpur topple Odisha

Goa: A hattrick from Greg Stewart helped Jamshedpur FC completely dismantle Odisha FC in Indian Super League 2021-22 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Tuesday (December 14). Jamshedpur won 4-0 against Odisha.

Peter Hartley opened the scoring very early on 3 minutes to give his team the lead. Odisha looked very shaky from the very beginning of the match as Jamshedpur dominated the play and built pressure. Hartley headed in a perfectly kept corner from Stewart into the right corner.

The goal fest which began with Hartley was continued by Stewart. Just within a minute, Stewart made the scoreline 2-0 taking full advantage of a mistake from the Odisha defence. He outperformed Paul Ramfangzuava and then shimmied his way past another defender and with his right-footed, smashed the ball past Kamaljit Singh and into the top right corner.

On the 21st minute, Stewart produced an amazing freekick making the scoreline 3-0, rubbing further on the wounds of Odisha. From 30 yards he curled in a left-footer that went around the wall, bending in past Kamaljit. Stewart completed his hattrick on the 35th minute after he went past a few defenders and fired past Kamaljit at the far post.

The second half was all about Odisha trying to fight back. Although neither of the team could find the back of the net. With this victory, Jamshedpur leaped from fifth place to second place in the points table with 11 points from six games. Odisha are currently in fourth place with nine points from five games.
