Goa  : Table-toppers Mumbai City FC shared points with North East United as the Highlanders gave a powerful fight to result in 3-3 at PJN Stadium last night. A powerful hattrick from Deshorn Brown ensured Mumbai City FC to remain winless for two matches as they shared points with NorthEast United FC. Mumbai almost took the lead in the 2nd minute as a briliant header from Ygor Catatau was saved by Marshid.  Mumbai controlled the charge on the match with Cassio Gabriel and Jahouh exchanging in the middle of the field.

Islanders’ goalie Mohammad Nawaz did not have to put much of show before the first quarter of the half as the keeper rolled over the tricky Mathias header. Finding chances, the NorthEast United tasted their first goal. Jamaican forward Brown announced his return to the Highlanders with a goal as he made the most from a magnificent diagonal ball coming from Imran Khan to hook it down and slot home past the charging Nawaz. Stung by the opener, the defending champions upped the anted and got to level the score just before the half-hour mark. Bipin zoom passed through the left flank and squared it for Angulo who tapped it into the nets. Only after seven minutes, Angulo returned with the provider as the Spaniard put an overlapping Bipin through with the latter effecting a low finish first time from a tight angle. Mirshad was left high as he let one through his near post and failed to get down in time.

During the second half, Mumbai were leading with 2-1 up as NorthEast United were snapping at their heels. But an action from Hernan Santana forced Nawaz into drive for a  great save three minutes past the second half. Mumbai added to their tally soon after as Angulo scored his second goal after Ygor Catatau unlocked a flailing NorthEast United defence to find Angulo who slotted home from close. However, Mumbai’s joy was short-lived as Brown got his name on the scoresheet again, kicking from his marker and using leg-power to edge past the ball across the keeper and into the back of the net. Mumbai looked for some breathing space but Bipin’s drive was saved well by Mirshad.

Meanwhile Brown completed his hat-trick pushing Imran’s shot into an empty net as Rahul Bheke failed to clear the danger and Nawaz misjudged while coming out of the line earlier than time.

Brown scored in the 29th, 56th and 80th minute of the match as Igor Angulo (33rd, 52nd) and Bipin Singh (40 th). The result kept Mumbai sit at the top of the pile with 16 points from eight games but while NorthEast United remain ninth having eight points from nine games.
