ISL 2021-22 : Bengaluru FC hold Jamshedpur FC in goalless draw

Goa: Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC had a match with everything except a goal. The two sides settled in a goalless stalemate in the 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) at the Athletic Stadium of Bambolim on Monday.

Jamshedpur had to deal with some major blows aa the first whistle blew for today’s match. Lithuanian striker Nerijus Valskis ended up with an injury during the pre-match warm-up thus Jordan Murray replacing him. Indian captain Sunil Chhetri was benched for the second consecutive match today. Udanta Singh had some trouble for Jamshedpur FC on an early hand, the Indian failed to tap the pass from Ajith Kamaraj’s cross. A few minutes later, he edge past the defence to square the ball within the box but was let down by his fellow strikers, who failed to make it on time. Prince Ibarra had just a couple of off-target shots, but promising Cleiton was substituted for Sunil Chhetri with a quarter of an hour to go as Marco Pezzauioli was looking for some inspiration from the India captain.

On the opposite end, Alex Lima had other plans. The Bengaluru defence failed to close down the Brazilian midfielder as he swiveled past three men to aim for the goal. However, it went wide. Both goalkeepers put up some action multiple times in the first half. Last week’s hat-trick hero, Greg Stewart crossed in a ball towards Murray but goalie Gurpreet Singh Sandhu put in a major clearance
Ashique Kuruniyan spewed in a ball from the left perfectly for Cleiton Silva, whose header was parried off brilliantly.

Jamshedpur jumped to the second spot on the table with 12 points while Bengaluru now have two draws in a row and their first clean sheet but is still at second-last with just 6 points.
