IPL logo is secretly designed after AB de Villiers, says Virender Sehwag

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) star batsman AB de Villiers, with his match-winning 27-ball 48 against the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) opener, left many including former India batsman Virender Sehwag impressed.

Virender Sehwag took to his social media handle to lavish praise on the former South Africa captain for his mental toughness and cricket skills. While lauding de Villiers the former India opener cheekily reckoned that the IPL logo designed after Ab De Villiers. Sehwag also praised Harshal Patel for his superb five-wicket haul in the match against the Mumbai Indians.

“Will power = De Villiers Power. Defeats all power. No wonder the @IPL logo is secretly designed after @ABdeVilliers17. Champion knock. But Patel Bhai ke raaz mein , RCB bowling mazaa aaya. Top spell 5/27. Is saal cup aande , no vaandey. #RCBvsMI,” Sehwag tweeted.

AB de Villiers came out to bat in the 13th over as RCB was chasing 160 for the win. De Villiers’ blistering 27-ball 48 helped RCB register their first win of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener at Chennai. The Proteas batsman got out in the final over, but RCB managed to register a win in the final over of the innings.

RCB’s Harshal Patel delivered a memorable performance. The all-rounder took three wickets in the last over of the first match of  IPL 2021. The 30-year-old also gave away only one run to complete his first five-wicket haul.  Patel also became the first bowler to take a fifer against MI in the long history of Indian Premier League. Harshal dismissed Krunal Pandya,  Kieron Pollard and  Marco Jansen in the final over. After dismissing Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan in the 16th and 18th over respectively.
