Chennai:  Royal Challengers Bangalore hit the perfect bulls eye as they maintained their perfect start beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 38 runs putting on a dominant all-round performance from on Sunday (April 18) in the Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli’s side put on a mammoth 204/4 at the M A Chidambaram Stadium courtesy of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers before the bowlers held the Knight Riders on 166/8 registering their third win in a row.

RCB had a scratchy beginning losing skipper Kohli and Rajat Patidar cheaply. Maxwell though played in his own groove. Despite a slow start, the Aussie all-rounder took the bowlers to cleaners  stitched a 53 run stand for the fourth wicket with AB de Villiers which completely shattered the Kolkata bowlers. A late onslaught from de Villiers added the finishing touch for Bangalore putting 204 on the board. Varun Chakravarthy despite picking up a couple of wicket was very expensive.

In reply, Kolkata, after a fiery start from the openers lost the tempo badly through the mid-phase chasing 205. Eoin Morgan (29) and Andre Russell (31) both looked good in the middle but the asking rate was too much to deal with for them. Harshal  Patel (2/17 ) was star with the  ball for them with Washington Sundar (1/33) being handy as well. Together they successfully halted the Knight Riders innings on 166/8 and climb to the  summit of the table with six-points.
