Delhi : Gujarat Titans (GT) secured their first sensational victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in a high-stakes match by 1 run in IPL season 2026, the 14th match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, with a rollercoaster last over involving David Miller.

The skipper of GT, Shubman Gill, returned after not being available for the previous match due to injury. Both teams were playing their 3rd match of the season, where DC had won two matches while GT had lost both. The match began with the toss, which DC won and chose to bowl first. Mukesh Kumar took early wickets, with Sai Sudharsan getting out after scoring 12 runs in 7 balls. Jos Buttler came in at No. 3 and played in a fantastic way during the powerplay but was dismissed by Kuldeep after the powerplay. Washington Sundar was promoted up the order and came in at No. 4. Gill played beautifully, which helped to build the score in the middle overs, but got out after scoring 70 in 45 balls, (caught by Nitish Rana b Lungi Ngidi). Sudharsan also played well and scored 55 in 32 balls,( caught by Nitish and bowled by Mukesh Kumar), helping the Titans reach a high total. Glenn Philips and Tewatia finished the innings after that, and Titans scored 210/4 , setting a high total to chase for DC.

In the second innings, Nissanka and Rahul opened. Nissanka played beautifully in the powerplay and got out after it, scoring 41 in 24 balls. Then Nitish came in at No. 3, but Rashid Khan came in to bowl in the 10th over and took two crucial wickets—Nitish Rana (5 in 6 balls) and, on the very next ball, Rizvi, who had played the last two matches outstandingly and was in great form but got out for a duck. It was an outstanding performance by Rashid Khan, as he took 3 wickets in 4 overs, giving only 17 runs with an economy of 4.25, and he was deservedly named the Man of the Match. David Miller came in but had to leave the field due to injury while playing. Captain Axar Patel came in but got out early again, dismissed by Rashid Khan for 2 runs in 3 balls. Rashid shifted the momentum firmly in favour of GT at that point, and DC’s middle order collapsed quickly. Rahul played brilliantly, returning to his classic form with a spectacular knock of 92 in 52 balls Only 8 runs were left to score a century before being dismissed by Siraj in the 16.6th over.

The match became crucial after Rahul got out, but Miller came back to play and performed outstandingly in the second-last over, making the match tight and close. DC needed 13 runs in the last over to win. Skipper Shubman chose Prasidh Krishna to bowl the crucial last over. In the last over, Miller brought the match very close for DC. With 2 runs needed off 2 balls, Miller refused to take a single on the second-last ball and stayed on strike. The match reached a thrilling final ball—2 needed off 1 ball. Prasidh Krishna executed a great slower ball that completely deceived Miller. Miller tried to run for a single to tie the match, but Jos Buttler collected the ball and hit a direct throw at the wickets, and Kuldeep got run out, sealing a 1-run victory for the Titans. Miller also took a review for a wide ball, but it was a fair delivery. In the crucial moments, Gill played a vital and impactful role, executing his captaincy perfectly to secure the win.

Tragically, DC lost the match, and with that, GT won their first match in the league and collected 2 points. On 11 April, DC face CSK, and on the other side, GT will face SRH on 12 April. Who DC will come back in the game after this tough defeat remains to be seen.
