IPL 2024 : Marcus Stoinis’ maiden IPL ton helps Lucknow Super Giants defeat Chennai Super Kings for 1st time at Chepauk

Chennai : Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets at Chepauk for 1st time. Marcus Stoinis played a vital 124*(63) to guide his team to victory.

Chasing 211 runs, LSG batters never looked settled in front of CSK bowlers . KL Rahul (16), Devdutt Padikal (13), Quinton De Kock (0) got dismissed within 11 overs.

Marcus Stoinis got promoted at no 3 held innings from 1 end. Nicholas Pooran (34) built a vital , quick partnership with Stoinis of 70 runs.

It was during the death that Stoinis brutally smashed all CSK bowlers to bring his maiden IPL ton.

Deepak Hooda (17) too played a good cameo accompanying Stoinis.

In the last over of Mustafizur Rahman where 17 runs were required, Stoinis smashed 19 off the 1st 3 deliveries to seal the victory for LSG.

Stoinis was adjourned the Man of the Match for his heroics.

In 1st innings, Batting 1st , CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his 2nd IPL ton , 1st of this season.

Shivam Dube took the bowlers to cleaners scoring 66 runs. Both of them helped CSK score 210-4(20).

With this win, LSG have moved to number 4 in points table, while CSK got demoted to number 5.
