IPL 2022: Suryakumar Yadav says MI’s maiden win against RR will spread positivity for the side

Mumbai: It was finally a relief for the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians as they earned their first maiden win of the season. Mumbai Indian’s batting hero Suryakumar Yadav mentioned that this win of this Indian Premier League (IPL) season will carry the crew spirit well as MI beat Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets on Saturday.

Chasing 159 to win, skipper Rohit Sharma flopped yet again, managing only two runs. While the likes of Suryakumar Yadav (51), Tilak Varma (35) and Ishan Kishan took over to earn MI a five-wicket win with four balls remaining against Rajasthan Royals and broke their eight-match losing streak at the DY Patil Stadium.

“Very happy with the way things went. It was an important win to have a good atmosphere. Really looking forward to the few games ahead. The win will spread positivity, and help everyone learn going forward in this season,” said Yadav at the post match press conference.

Yadav has displayed his various types of shots flicks, drives, sweeps which he is known for  over the years. Meanwhile, he was playing at No 3 for the first time this season. While he has played at No 4 in most of the matches this season. Currently it’s at No 3 his favourite batting slot, according to him which he established himself with Mumbai Indians.

“I have enjoyed batting at all the positions, but I love batting at No 3 because the situation I go in, I can pace my innings accordingly looking at the situation. At the same time I am really flexible,” added Yadav, who was adjued Player-of-the-Match.

Yadav further added that it was very important for him to play till the end and added that It is his job to take the team forward as he is ready to bat anywhere.

“It was really important for me to play untill the end, but my job at No. 3 was to take the game ahead from where Rohit Sharma had left. Nevertheless, very happy with the way things went,” said Yadav.

MI are finally off the blocks and they would hope that they can finish the season on a high note by winning their remaining matches of this season. MI will next be seen in action against Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium on Friday.
