Pune: Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 29 runs in the 39th game of the IPL 2022 at MCA Stadium in Pune, with Kuldeep Sen taking four wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin returning with three wickets. No RCB hitter was able to stay at the crease for an extended period of time, and RR won by a comfortable margin.

Virat Kohli’s batting performance was once again disappointing, as he only managed 9 runs. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Mohammed Siraj each took two wickets. Riyan Parag led the way for RR, scoring 56 runs.

Though the Rajasthan Royals got off to a bad start, losing opener Devdutt Padikkal for 7 leg-before-wicket in the second over of the encounter to Mohammed Siraj. Surprisingly, the Royals elevated Ravichandran Ashwin to no. 3 and the all-rounder struck quickly with four boundaries, but his innings was cut short when Siraj caught and bowled him for 17 off 9 balls as RR lost their second wicket for 33 runs.

Josh Hazlewood dismissed the Orange cap bearer Jos Butler for 8 in the very next ball, leaving the inaugural champions at 33 for 3. Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, attempted to restart the innings alongside Daryl Mitchell.

Rajasthan reached the triple-figure mark, however Shimon Hetmyer was bowled for three runs in the next over. Despite losing his bowling partners at the other end, G continued to strike boundaries and sixes to reach his half-century in just 29 balls.

Rajasthan lost their ninth wicket for 121 runs after Harshal Patel dismissed Trent Boult in the 18th over. In the next over, Prasidh Krishna was run out.

Parag’s undefeated 56-run knock off 31 balls, which included three boundaries and four sixes, helped the team reach 144/8 in 20 overs.
