IPl 2022 : Quinton de Kock leads Lucknow Super Giants to win against Delhi Capitals, Rishab Pant fined

Mumbai : The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won their consecutive third game in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets. Quinton de Kock made a terrific knock of 80 runs for Lucknow Super Giants to a successfully chase of 150.

Coming to bat with three changes –  David Warner, Anrich Nortje and Sarfaraz Khan Delhi Capitals openers – David Warner and Prithvi Shaw provided a solid start. A partnership of 52/0 came up by the end of powerplay. Prithvi Shaw brought up his half-century with a four and a six. Lucknow Super Giants bounced back. Gowtham and Bishnoi claimed a wicket each in consecutive overs to send DC openers back to the pavilion.

At the end of 10 overs, DC were 73-2. Bishnoi scalped his second wicket to dismiss Rovman Powell (5). Sarfaraz Khan joined skipper Rishab Pant as the duo played with momentum and reach 99-3 at the end of 15 overs. Pant paced the momentum with two sixes and a four. Sarfaraz Khan scored consecutive fours as well. Impressive death bowling from Jason Holder and Avesh Khan ensured only 19 runs in the last three overs as DC coined 149/3.

Chasing 150, Lucknow Super Giants openers, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock took their Quinton de Kock struck three fours in a row and a six against Anrich Nortje in the 5th over.  Lucknow Super Giants were 48-0 at the end of powerplay. The duo completed fifty run partnership in the 8th over. Rahul was dismissed as he was caught at long-off by Shaw, Lucknow Super Giants were 74-1 at the half-way mark.

Quinton de Kock brought up his half-century in style with a four. Lucknow Super Giants were 64 short with 48 balls remaining in hand. Quinton de Kock continued to attack as they required 39 off the final five overs. De Kock smashed consecutive fours against Kuldeep Yadav before depating for 80 in the 16th over.

14 runs came off the penultimate over with Krunal Pandya smacking a six straight down the ground against Mustafizur Rahman. Young Ayush Badoni held his nerves and finished the chase with a four and a six.

The Delhi Capitals have been fined as they maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants. As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was fined with Rs 12 lakhs.
