Kolkata: IPL 2022’s table-toppers Gujarat Titans will face Rajasthan Royals in the season’s first qualifier on Tuesday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Since the playoffs began in 2011, the Royals have never finished in the top two. Meanwhile, the Titans have surpassed pre-tournament predictions to reach this point. Both teams have leaned heavily on their six-batters and five-bowler strategies. Their unwavering belief in this basic idea has helped them achieve great success.

Gujarat qualified for the playoffs for the first time in their history, while Rajasthan qualified for the first time since 2018. However, the rain had not been kind to cricket fans in Kolkata over the previous two days, with rain and thunderstorms. But not to worry, the Eden Gardens has an amazing drainage system and the CAB has already covered the entire ground.

Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson will be fired up after winning two games in a row in their last two meetings. The champions of the IPL 2008 season, though, will be well aware of Gujarat’s strengths. Gujarat won the last meeting between these two sides by 37 runs.

Gujarat lost their previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, but the table-toppers will be ready to start the playoff series with renewed enthusiasm. The debutant will look forward toward their maiden trophy.
