Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (MI) bounce back with a victory in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Beating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 5 wickets, with a vital partnership between Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen.  TA three-wicket haul from Daniel Sams reduced CSK to 97 in the first innings.

Daniel Sams took Chennai Super Kings’ in-form Devon Conway and Moeen Ali in the first over.  CSK were 5-3 when Jasprit Bumrah trapped Robin Uthappa off LBW. Daniel Sams scalped his third wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad caught down the leg side. Skipper MS Dhoni came at the crease but Mumbai Indians kept mounting pressure. Chennai Super Kings’ batters Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube went off to Riley Meredith.

MS Dhoni dispatched a over the fence to lead the charge. Chennai Super Kings were 65/6 at the halfway stage. Kumar Kartikeya claimed wickets of Dwayne Bravo and Simarjeet Singh. Chenai Super Kings lost Maheesh Theekshana with a catch from Rohit off Ramandeep Singh’s bowling. Ishan Kishan had a direct hit to run-out Mukesh Choudhary and Chennai Super Kings were all out for 97.

Chasing 98, Mumbai Indians lost Ishan Kishan in the opening bover of Mukesh Choudhary’s bowling. Rohit Sharma put Mumbai Indians on the front foot with his elegant shots. However the Mumbai Indians’ skipper was caught behind off Simarjeet Singh’s bowling.

Daniel Sams and Tristan Stubbs were trapped LBW by Mukesh Choudhary. Mumbai Indians were 36-4 at the end of the powerplay. Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen stood at the crease and stitched a vital partnership, Mumbai Indians were at 66-4 at the halfway stage.

The equation came off to 32 from 60 deliveries. The duo kept ticking the runs, but Moeen Ali scalped Shokeen and castled the stumps. With only 9 runs required, Tim David smamshed a maximum to hit the winning runs in the 15th over.
