Due to an ankle injury, Moeen Ali will miss a few more games for the Chennai Super Kings, but head coach Stephen Fleming is optimistic that the England all-rounder will be back in a week.

The injury occurred during a training session on Saturday for the England all-rounder. He was unable to play in the CSK’s 11-run loss to Punjab Kings on Monday. CSK’s three-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans on April 17 was his last appearance.

“He rolled his ankle, X-Rays revealed there was no fracture but there is always a recovery period maybe seven days. We are hopeful the recovery will be quick given that there is no fracture,” Fleming said at the post-match press conference on Monday.

Ali, who was a vital player of the CSK team that won the league last season, has struggled with both the bat and the ball in this season’s edition.

While Ali has scored 87 runs at a 17.40 average, including a 48 against the Sunrisers, he has yet to pick up a wicket, giving 68 runs in eight overs.
