Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star pace bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has reportedly suffered a back injury while undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the condition of Deepak Chahar’s injury is yet to be confirmed and CSK haven’t received a formal report on the bowler’s fitness from the BCCI.
While CSK have always claimed that their Rs 14 crore buy would be fit before the second week of April, but the latest injury does put a big question mark on the bowler’s availability for the entire season of the cash-rich league.

Deepak Chahar has been one of the vital part for CSK in the past few seasons as he picks up crucial wickets and was one of the major reasons why CSK won their fourth IPL title in 2021.
The bowling all-rounder had suffered a quadriceps injury during the third T20I against West Indies in February, walking off the field after failing to complete his spell. He also went on to miss series against Sri Lanka.

The development comes as a massive setback to CSK who are already struggling in the absence of their premier pacer having started IPL 2022 with four defeats in as many matches. CSK are currently at the bottom of the IPL 2022 points table. They will next take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their fifth match of the season on Tuesday (April 12).
