Mumbai: A clinical allround performance from Chennai Super Kings meant they beat Royal Challengers by 69 runs in the Indian Premier League on Sunday (April 25) with Ravindra Jadeja running havoc on both RCB’s batting and bowling at the Wankhede stadium.

Batting first, Faf du Plessis (50) helped CSK reach 154/4 in 19 overs before Jadeja (62) smacked 37 runs off the last over from Harshal Patel sending his side 191/4 in 20 overs. Bangalore in reply had a disappointing outing ending on 122/9. Jadeja (3/13) alongside veteran Imran Tahir (2/16) crushed the RCB batting line-up ending their winning run.

Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad (33) and Du Plessis gave a solid start to MS Dhoni’s side. Cameo’s from Suresh Raina (24) and Ambati Raidu (14) gave ample support to Du Plessis who brought up a 39-ball half-century but got dismissed just two deliveries later.

After Raina and Rayudu went to the pavilion in quick succession, it looked like CSK would barely get to around 180. Jadeja though did the unthinkable in the last over hitting five sixes and a boundary smacking a swashbuckling 28-ball 62.

Chasing 192, RCB were off to flyer getting 44 off the first three overs before Sam Curran sent Virat Kohli home. Padikkal after a breezy 15-ball 34 followed his skipper soon before their middle order collapsed in an embarrassing fashion.

Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers both fell to Jadeja who spun his web after his heroics with the bat. Tahir and Shardul Thakur (1/11) joined the party tearing the star-stacked batting line up apart. RCB lost eight wickets for just 49 runs leaving the ground on 122/9 scratching their heads in despair.

Brief Scores: Chennai Super Kings 191/4 in 20 overs( Ravindra Jadeja 62 not out, Faf du Plessis 50; Harshal Patel 4/51) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 122/9 in 20 overs (Devdutt Padikkal 34; Ravindra Jadeja 3/13, Imran Tahir 2/16) by 69 runs.
