Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side’s match against Chennai Super Kings which KKR lost by 18 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

This was KKR’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct of breaching the minimum over-rate offences as they slipped to their third loss of the season.

“Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 21,” IPL statement read.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Morgan was fined Rs 12 lakh,” the statement added.

Earlier, CSK skipper MS Dhoni was also fined Rs 12 lakh after their opening game against Delhi Capitals on April 10. Rohit Sharma was penalised on Tuesday after Mumbai Indians maintained slow over-rate against the Delhi Capitals in Chennai.

With this win CSK climbed to the top of the table with six points from four matches, while KKR slipped to sixth position. KKR will next face  Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (April 24).
