IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals to seek play-off spot against Rajasthan Royals

Abu Dhabi:  Delhi Capitals will look to secure their place in the play-offs of the Indian Premier League when they meet Rajasthan Royals at the  Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Saturday.

Delhi have never won the title but this might be their best opportunity to change that. An eight-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game of the UAE leg have put them close to the secure a play-off spot. Anrich Nortje’s bowled fiery spell finishing  with 2/12 in four overs before the returning Shreyas Iyer, struck an unbeaten on 47 to seal he deal.

The Capitals are waiting on Marcus Stoinis’ scan results after he left the ground with a calf injury after the first ball of his second over in the last game. Otherwise, they are unlikely to change their winning combination.

Rajasthan on the other hand had a significantly more dramatic resumption of their second phase in UAE. , Kartik Tyagi did the unthinkable in the penultimate over to  help his side to come-from-behind win against Punjab Kings defending 185. Their play-off chances look slender while heading into the second half of the season with absence of Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes but their young domestic core has come up with the good especially Mahipal Lomror who struck a lightning 43 off 17 and Yashasvi Jaiswal who finally stepped to the hype around him.
