Chennai: Delhi Capitals held their nerves in an epic clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad beating them in the Super Over in the Indian Premier League on Sunday (April 25). Earlier, Delhi were held to 159/4 despite a good start from Prithvi Shaw (53). In reply, Jonny Bairstow (38) gave a blistering start before Kane Williamson hit a superb 66 not out but his valiant effort went in vain. With two needing off the last ball, SRH managed just a single levelling the score with Delhi.

In the Super Over, Axar Patel did a fantastic job restricting the score to 7. Rishav Pant wrapped up the job against Rashid Khan reserve sweeping him for a boundary before securing the win on the final ball for Delhi who went to second in the table.

Batting first, Delhi despite a good 81-run opening stand between Shikhar Dhawan Shaw lost the tempo through the mid-phase of the game. Shaw after a disappointing outing in the last game returned in style with a 39-ball 53.

Though Pant (37) and Steve Smith (34) managed to steady the ship but were unable to accelerate in the last few overs. Siddharth Kaul (2/31) and Rashid (1/31) showed great resilience holding Delhi’s innings on 159/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 160, Bairstow took the bowlers to the cleaners with a swashbuckling 18-ball 38. The returning Kane Williamson once again showed everyone why he is considered as one of the best batsmen in the world taking the game from the scruff of the neck.

The Kiwi kept Sunrisers in the hunt with a 51-ball 66 despite Avesh Khan (3/34) and Patel (2/16) being right on the money. Jagadeesh Suchith (14) added a valuable cameo hitting Avesh for a couple of boundaries in the last two balls of the 19th over before smacking Kagiso Rabada a maximum in the final over.

However, the Proteas seamer came back well after that. With two needed off the last ball, Suchith managed just one making it 159/7 in 20 overs.

Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals 159/4 in 20 overs (Prithvi Shaw 53, Rishabh Pant 37; Siddharth Kaul 2/31) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 159/7 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson 66 not out, Jonny Bairstow 38; Avesh Khan 3/34, Axar Patel 2/16) in Super Over.
