Mumbai: Fresh from a win in their respective last games, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals meet each other in the Indian Premier League on Monday(April 19) in the Wankhede Stadium. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side after horrendous start to their campaign returned in winning form against Punjab Kings in their last game where they held the PBKS for 106 thanks to Deepak Chahar(4/13) and Sam Curran(1/12) who tore apart the batting line up before Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali got things over the line by 6 wickets on their skipper’s 200th game in the tournament.
As for Rajasthan, after a narrow loss in their opening game against PBKS, they opened their account in their next game beating Delhi Capitals in a thriller. David Miller(62) and Chris Morris(36) power their side to victory after Jaydev Unadkat’s (3/15) ran havoc on Rishav Pant’s side holding them on 147.
CSK have been quite inconsistent with the bat. Apart from du Plessis, Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina, others need to step up their game ahead of the long season ahead. Raina despite a brilliant half-century in the opening game failed in the next one though his side were well close to the finish line. They will have to put on a big score considering the likes of David Miller, Sanju Samson and Chris Morris in the Royals side.
AS for Samson’s side, they have made a habit of turning the game from the scruff off the neck. Their spirit have been excellent even with absence of a certain Ben Stokes. Miller’s form in last game has been a positive for them while youngster Riyan Parag showed great promise especially with Bat and his fielding. Their biggest concern would be putting a good stand at the beginning of their innings.
