Kolkata : Indian are set to face Australia in 5 match Test Series in Border Gavaskar Trophy from November 22, 2024. The Indian team has landed on Australian soil for practice sessions, however, injury scare has hit the Indian camp.
During the practice sessions, players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan have developed injuries adding to signs of worries.
The most serious concern was regarding KL Rahul who got hit on elbow during the Intra-Squad Match against India A at WACA. Although the batter looked in discomfort, the injury wasn’t severe, and he didn’t undergo an MRI scan.
However, in a recent development, KL Rahul walked off the field after a rising delivery struck him on his elbow off Prasidh Krishna.
Rahul complained of agonising pain and was escorted back to the dugout by one of the physios. He’s doubtful for the 1st Test at Perth.
Sarfaraz Khan also faced got hit on elbow during the net sessions but is reportedly stable. However, he didn’t feature in the Intra-Squad practice Match against India A.
Indian legend Virat Kohli also reportedly developed an unspecified injury on Thursday. The batter was immediately taken for scans before participating in the intra-squad practice match at the WACA in Perth.
He is now stable and also participated in the Intra-Squad practice Match.
However, he got dismissed for just 15 runs nicking a good length delivery of Mukesh Kumar to 2nd slip. Immediately after getting dismissed, he went to net sessions for drills.
Indian keeper Batter Rishabh Pant was also dismissed for 19 runs, being clean bowled by Nitish Reddy. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal only scored 15 before getting caught behind wicket.
On contrary, Indian pacers Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar and Nitish Reddy looked promising with the Ball in hand. Jasprit Bumrah didn’t take the field today to manage his workload.
India need to win 4 out of 5 Tests in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024 to qualify in ICC WTC 2025 final.
