Trinidad: Indian wrist-spinner Pravin Tambe created history on Wednesday, August 26 by becoming the first Indian to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He was selected in the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR’s) starting XI against St. Lucia Zouks. The 48-year old Pravin made his debut for TKR after replacing injured Sunil Narine in the Kieron Pollard-led side. He played as one of three spinners alongside Fawad Ahmed and Khary Pierre.

Tambe was one of the two Indian players who had got the chance in CPL draft earlier 2020, Asad Khan being the other one. In recent time, Indian players are not approved in overseas leagues unless they have retired from domestic cricket. He did so in 2018 in order to participate in the unapproved league.

Pravin’s success is made of hard work and intense dedication as he never played any senior level cricket till he was selected in IPL 2013 by Rajasthan Royal franchise. At the age of 41, he became the oldest player to debut in the tournament where he was the highest wicket -taker and hence called up to Ranji Trophy squad for Mumbai that year.
