Dubai: After reviving their campaign with a 66 run victory over Afghanistan, India will look for another dominant victory when they Scotland in Super 12, Group 2 of the ICC World T20 in Dubai on Friday.
Against a tricky Afghanistan, India blowed away the their critics posting a mammoth 210/2 in 20 overs. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma(75) and KL Rahul(68) clobbered the Afghan bowling which earned its respect for being efficient in the tournament. Later on, Rishabh Pant(27*) and Hardik Pandya(35*) turned up the heat in the last three over smashing 50 runs together.
Indian bowlers also got back to their groove helping their side earn victory by big margin to improve their net run rate although defeating Afghans by 100 runs would make the numbers even better than New Zealand which they could as towards the end the Indian bowlers got hammered a bit.
Never the less, the return to form of swashbuckling Rohit could and Hardik could be such key things for the “Men in Blue” who would have to replicate same against the Scottish side also. Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion proved fruitful as well giving India the edge to defend big totals. There’s very little chance that skipper Virat Kohli would make changes after a dominating performance in the last game.
Scotland, on the other hand, have been struggling to match their opponents. They have lost all their matches in the Super 12s of the tournament so far. However, in the last game despite the defeat against New Zealand they showed that they surprise with batting as they were restricted by just 16 runs. Heading into this match, Kyle Coetzer’s side will look to pack a punch as well.
