Mumbai: Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been stopped at Mumbai International Airport by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) over suspicion of being in control of unrevealed gold and other precious items while returning from UAE after winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

“Cricketer Krunal Pandya stopped by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Mumbai International Airport over suspicion of being in possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables, while returning from UAE,” DRI sources said.

Recently, Krunal showed up for Mumbai Indians in the IPL held in the UAE. The Rohit Sharma-led side won their fifth IPL title on Tuesday (November 10) after defeating Delhi Capitals in the finals of the tournament. Earlier, Mumbai had won the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

The left-handed batsman has played 71 matches for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was the player of the match in the 2017 IPL final and had helped Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiant to claim their third title.

The latest edition of the IPL was initially scheduled to be held in March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was then shifted to the UAE.
