Kolkata: BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has stated that no spectators will be allowed at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata for the three T20Is against West Indies despite having state government clearance.

“Let me put this on record. We are not allowing spectators at the Eden Gardens for the three T20 Internationals,” the former India captain said on Friday.

As per a West Bengal government notification issued on Monday, “all indoor and outdoor sports activities will be allowed with 75 per cent of the capacity of the venue”.

“There will not be any tickets for general public. The only people allowed are CAB officials and representatives of the various units,” he added.

“In these times, we can’t risk the health of the players by allowing spectators. No tickets for the stands of Life or Associate members will be issued.

“Obviously, we have the clearance of West Bengal government but BCCI doesn’t want to risk the health safety of players,” Ganguly said.

The last time Eden Gardens hosted an international T20I was in November when India defeated New Zealand by 73 runs.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Cricket Association had said that the India versus West Indies ODIs will be behind closed doors.
