Bengaluru : New Zealand pacers William O’Rourke and Matt Henry with their 3-fers made a remarkable comeback for the Black Caps, taking them to a winning position after Sarfaraz Khan and Risabh Pant’s destructive Batting display, on Day 4 of the 1st Test in Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru.
India started the Day with 231-3 & trailing by 125 runs.
Sarfaraz Khan (150) & Risabh Pant (99) took an aggressive approach right from start of the day, bashing the Kiwi bowlers all over the park.
In no time India crossed the trail and took a lead with the duo’s fiery performance. However, things took a turn with introduction of new Ball & pacers.
Sarfaraz Khan after a magnificent knock played a mistimed short to Ajaz Patel at short covers off Tim Southee’s bowling, ending a 177 runs partnership and the score being 408-4.The Match began turning from this point.
Pant too followed him after 4 overs with 1 run short to his 100 with O’Rourke’s introduction.
Indian Batting then saw a collapse with O’Rourke and Henry picking 3-fers and clearing up the tail in no time.
The entire Indian Batting line up collapsed from 408-3 to 462 all out, with India taking just 106 runs lead after a fighting display by Pant – Sarfaraz duo.
New Zealand will need to chase 107 runs in last Day’s play tomorrow.
