IND vs BAN, Day 1 : Bangladesh gain upper hand despite Akash Deep’s early 2-fer in a rain curtailed day

Kanpur : The likes of Mominul Haque (40*) & skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) gave Bangladesh an upper hand despite Akash Deep’s double blow in early hours at Green Park, Kanpur, on Day 1 of 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh.

Batting 1st on Day 1, Indian young pacer Akash Deep (2/34) struck early in a span of 4 overs (8-12) picking up both openers Zakir Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam (24) , on 29 runs.

However, veteran Mominul Haque (40*) & skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) built a quick 51 runs partnership to solidify Bangladesh’s position.

No sooner, Indian veteran spinner Ravi Ashwin dismissed Shanto, becoming highest Indian wicket taker in Asia (420*), surpassing the legendary Anil Kumble.

Mominul, joined by Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) built a 27* runs partnership, before rain intervened and scrapped the rest of Day 1 game.

Bangladesh are currently 107-3 after end of Day 1.
