Kolkata : Barcelona legend Sergi Roberto has ended his terms with FC Barcelona, the club he served for 14 years & will leave as a free agent.
Roberto’s contract expired at the end of June but no decisions were made about his future.
In his glorious career, he made 373 appearances, placing him in 23rd in list of all time greats of Barcelona. He has 25 trophies including – 2 Champions League, 7 League titles, 6 Copas del Rey, 2 Club World Cups, 2 UEFA Super Cups and 6 Spanish Super Cups as well as being captain during the 2023/24 season.
Midfielder Sergi Roberto came through Barca’s La Masia academy and made his first team debut in 2010.

Roberto penned down emotional message on ending his Barca career after 14 years in his social media.
He said, “Culés, the time has come to thank you for all the journey we have made together. Visca Barça, forever and ever! “
“From my debut, to being captain and winning every possible title. I have shared the dressing room with my idols and with the best players and coaches in the world, a real privilege”, he added.
“I leave proud. Proud of having given everything for 18 years. Of always having put the interests of the team and the club before my own. And proud to be the captain of the club of my life”.
Concluding, he thanked the club, the staff, and the fans, as well as his family for being with him through the journey.

Barcelona threw light on Roberto’s 14 years career with them and said, “Sergi Roberto has made his official departure from the Club where he has spent virtually his entire career, FC Barcelona. The first team captain’s contract came to an end at the conclusion of last season and via an emotional video published on his social media networks he has made his farewell to the Club public”.
“Furthermore, the Catalan player will hold a farewell event at the Auditori 1899 at at the Club on Tuesday 13 August in the presence of president Joan Laporta.”
He was the unlikely hero of Barcelona’s stunning 6-1 comeback to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16 in 2017, netting the final and decisive goal after the French side won 4-0 in the first leg.
“After 373 games, 25 trophies and an unforgettable goal, the footballer who arrived at La Masia at the age of 14 is leaving the club,” said Barcelona in a statement.
His farewell will be held on Tuesday.
