Kolkata : Hockey India retired No 16 Jersey of legendary Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who recently retired after India’s successful Bronze winning Hockey campaign in Olympics 2024.
“An era of excellence ends as Hockey India retires the iconic No. 16 jersey of PR Sreejesh. From impossible saves to inspiring generations, Sreejesh’s legacy will forever be etched in the history of Indian hockey,” Hockey India said in a statement posted on Social media.
Sreejesh brought down curtains on his legendary 18 years long career after winning Bronze Medal. He’s also appointed as the Head Coach of Indian Junior Men’s team.
Sreejesh has been a part of India’s Gold Medal campaigns in 2014,2022 Asian Games , Bronze in Tokyo Olympics 2020,2024 , Asian Games 2018,World League 2014-15. He also bagged 4 Golds in Asian Champions Trophy 2011,2016,2018,2023 & Silver in 2023 Doha. He has also silver medals in Commonwealth Games of 2014,2022, Asia Cup 2013, Champions Trophy 2016,2018. He finished as one of the most decorated and legendary player in Indian Hockey.
