Is MS Dhoni's career in CSK over or starting his new innings?

Dubai: Cricket fans were forced to jump off their seats when a vintage Dhoni turned back the clock on Sunday after hitting the match winning knock for Chennai Super Kings
against Delhi Capitals and booked their berth in the IPL final.

Needless to say CSK have been one of the most dominant teams in the history of Indian Premier League, consistently making it to the playoffs. But last season CSK saw the downfall after not qualifying for the first time in IPL history. They surely bounced back from that disappointment. With the help of none other than ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni’s majestic cameo, the three-time champions defeated Rishabh Pant led DC by four wickets to straight heading into the final for the 9th time in the history of Indian Premier League.

“It was a crucial innings. They were using the bigger boundary very well. Nothing special, just watch the ball and hit the ball. I haven’t done a lot in the tournament. So, you want to get that out of the system. If you are batting well in the nets, just look for the ball, what are the variations, where the bowler could bowl. Other than that, there was nothing much in the mind. If there are too many things floating around, it becomes difficult to watch the ball,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.

The CSK skipper surely had a difficult time with the bat this season, and many thought it might be time for him to take a backseat. But Dhoni, like he has done several times in the past, performed when it mattered most for his team, and finishes off in style, ‘Once a finisher will always be finisher.’  Dhoni played a sensational knock of 18 not out off just six balls to take CSK into the IPL 2021 final.

The CSK captain was full of praise for young CSK opener Ruturaj, who registered his 4th half-century of the season. Dhoni called Gaikwad a good talent who plays authentic shots. “I had a conversation with him (Ruturaj) after one of the games. It was around why should an opener bat only till the 10th over. Why not till the 18th over. He is somebody who plays authentic shots. He is a good talent,” Dhoni concluded.
